Welcome to the OT Basic Research Guide for Pacific University Library!

This guide is intended to help you:

*Find full-text articles & obtain them (print or electronic)

*Find books & obtain them (print or electronic)

*Use proper citation styles in your writing

*Learn about library resources for your area of study 

Getting Started

You will need to set up the following accounts in order to use library resources:

1. Review your Library Account  Go to Pacific University Library Account and

  • See what materials are currently checked out.
  • Renew your checked-out materials, provided they are not overdue.
  • Monitor the status of your holds.
  • Review your fines.
  • Save your searches and save your results from your Boxer Search search.

2. Set up an Illiad account with our Interlibrary Services so you can request articles from journals not owned by Pacific University Library. Use your Illiad account to:

  • Request items not found in Boxer Search or Summit
  • Open received journal articles
  • Request renewals on books
  • Check the status of requests
  • Update contact information

3. Set up an account with RefWorks so you can easily manage your bibliographic citations and make writing your papers easier.

4. Set your preferences in Google Scholar. Go to the Pacific University Google Scholar Information Page for a step-by-step view of this process.

You will need to change TWO settings

  1. Library Links - set up "Pacific University Libraries - Get full-text article"
  2. Export Settings - change to RefWorks
