What do all these buttons do?

 

Toolbar:

 

printer.jpg

Allows the user to print off their document.

backarrow.jpg

Allows the user to go back several steps to return document to previous states and undo changes.

frontarrow.jpg

Allows you to change document forward steps.

paint.jpg

Allows you to copy the formatting of a specific area and move it to another.

zoom.jpg

Allows you to change the zoom on your paper or how big or small  the paper appears.

textdefaults.jpg

Allows you to switch between pre programmed formats of text for different instances such as Titles, headers, and subtitles.

Allows you to change the font of your document.

textsize.jpg

Allows you to select a different size for your font.

bold.jpg

Allows you to bold certain areas of text.

italics.jpg

Allows you to italicize different areas of text.

underline.jpg

Allows you to underline different areas of text.

textcolor.jpg

Allows you to select the color of your text.

link.jpg

Allows you to insert links.

comment.jpg

Allows you to write comments about different parts of the document, these show up on the side bar.

align.jpg

Left align, center align, right align, and justify. These all allow you to edit the alignment of the text and where it appears on the page.

linespacing.jpg

Allows you to change whether your paper is single spaced, 1.5 spaced, double spaced, et cetera.

Allows you to select from several different types of numbered lists that you can create.

bulletedlist.jpg

Allows you to select from several variations of bulleted lists that you can use.

indent.jpg

Allows you to increase or decrease the amount of an indent.

clearformatting.jpg

Allows you to clear all formatting options you have chosen.

Allows you to change the editing mode.

Allows you to hide the menus.



Taskbar:

Takes you to the Docs home page where you can see all of the Docs you have created.

rename.jpg

Double clicking this allows you to change the title of your document.

star.jpg

Allows you to star a document so you can find it quickly.

folder.jpg

Allows you move a document to a folder.

File

You can create a new doc,  as well as share, rename, open, and print previously existing documents. You can move and delete documents. It is here that you can also edit language and see revision history, as well as post, email, or download your document.

Edit

Here you can undo and redo changes. Cut, copy, and paste. Have access to the web clipboard. And select all or find and replace.

View

Here you can toggle which toolbars and options you see. You can also make your document full screen and view Compact Controls.

Insert

Here you can insert basically anything from pictures, to links,to page breaks. You can also add comments and footnotes. You can also toggle page number and view your word count.

Format

Here you can edit basic formatting options of the paper and of text. You can also edit pictures.

Tools

You can run a spell check here, have quick access to a research bar, check your word count, and look up definitions of words. You can also translate a document and use the script editor.

Table

Allows you to insert a table and then provides a bunch of different options to help you edit it, such as adding rows and columns.

Add-ons

Here you have the option to download additional features for Google Docs.

Help

Allows you to see a list of keyboard shortcuts. And also provides you to help lines and additional tutorials on Google Docs.

Allows you to share your document with other people.
