Inserting and Using Tables

 

Inserting Tables:

Tables are a great way to organize data. There are two different ways to insert tables, as well as many options to edit them to our liking.

 

  1. The first way to insert a table is to select Insert on the taskbar.

  1. From the dropdown menu select Table. You can then choose how many columns and rows you want by moving the mouse to the dimensions you require. (The first number is the number of columns and the second the number of rows.)

  1. Click when you are satisfied with the dimensions and it should insert the table into your document. You can now begin filling in the table, to do this simply type in the squares.



The second way to insert a table,

  1. Is to, on the taskbar, select Table.

Using Tables:

Once you have inserted a table there are several different options you can use to go about editing them.

 

  1. When you have created a table, several new editing options will appear on the toolbar.  If these do not become visible to you, simply click on the table.

This tool can be used to edit the background color of your table.

This tool can be used to edit the border color of your table.

border width.jpg

This tool can be used to edit the width of your table’s border.

border dash.jpg

This tool can be used to change your border from a straight to a dashed line.

 

  1. You can also edit your table using the Table tool on the taskbar. To access this simply select Table on the taskbar.

  1. There are several different options on the dropdown menu. You can insert and delete rows  and columns, Delete the table, and access the table properties.

  1. If you want more advanced options you can select Table properties…

  1. This will open up a separate window where you can edit the border, background, dimensions, and alignment.

  1. When you are satisfied with your changes, select OK.
