APA for You: Writing

Keep in Mind!

Talk to your Professor or Course Instructor about their writing preferences

Double spaces between each sentence

Research papers do not have to be boring. Use your style and individual tone!

Paraphrase! Paraphrase! Paraphrase!

Only quote when paraphrasing the author would not do the quote justice.

When paraphrasing an article within your paper, use past tense.

Ex: The author discussed that you need to use APA correctly.

It is prefered to use the word "We" instead of using a passive tone when you are writing a paper with other authors.

Ex: We concluded that this is how to write a paper.

Not: The authors of this article concluded that this is not how to write a paper.

Other Important Information

There are many rules in APA guidelines that discuss the type of writing style.

Refer to the newest APA Publication Manual to seek out this information.

Remember to discuss specific writing guidelines with your professor or course instructor.
