Managing Groups: Creating Groups and assigning students to them

1. Go to the main page of your Moodle course site and l click on the Participants link heading on the menu above your course  then on the pull-down menu by Enroll users:

2. Click on the gray Administration gear and then click on the Groups link.

 

3. In the new window, click on Create group (blue button at bottom of page) to manually assign students to specific groups.

4. On the page that opens, type in a name for the group. Optionally, you can upload an image to help identify the group.

5. Click Add/remove users.

6. Click on student names from the Potential members box. Then click the Add button. *Tip: you can select multiple names and add them in one go.

7. You can also use the Auto-create groups (blue button at bottom of page) to have Moodle randomly assign students to groups. You will need to choose a naming scheme and decide if you want Moodle to create groups based on number of students or number of groups.
